Mojgan Samardar
Dr. Mojgan Samardar's education and career have been very technical in nature but she relaxes and lets her creativity flow through her artwork. Mojgan has a BS, MEng and Ph.D in Electrical Engineering with extensive research in artificial intelligence and human cognition. She has provided information technology training and consulting in the U.S. and overseas as well as working with a defense contractor on multiple Air Force projects. After years of traveling, Mojgan went to work for a manufacturing facility in Sidney, Ohio, before retiring in 2017. Mogjan has been a member and fund-raising chair of the the TCAAC board since 2018 and is also a Community Voice Producer for WYSO Public Radio in Yellow Springs, Ohio.
Mojgan enjoys pottery, photography, glass mosaic, glass fusion and watercolor painting. She especially loves working with glass. Her first art glass adventure was creating large mosaics with Jes McMillan, Director of the Glass Mosaic Institute. Mojgan reconnected with long-time friend, Susan Cannon, a well-known glass fusion artist, who taught her glass fusion techniques and encouraged her to explore the magical properties of glass. She also began taking watercolor classes with Rusty Harden, a well-known local artist.
Mojgan's first public showing was in 2018, at the TCAAC "a fine art exhibit" where she was awarded 1st place in the 3-dimensional category with her glass fusion and 2nd place for her watercolor entry. Her glass fusion also received an honorable mention in the 2018 Piqua Arts Council Art Exhibit. Mojgan's work is on display in the Mills Park Hotel in Yellow Springs.
