Have you ever felt like you stand out and everyone is looking at you? Wish you could shrink and sneak out of a room? Karl surely has, being 6’8” he has always stood out. In 4th grade he was the tallest in the school which included his teachers. There was no escaping it, being this tall you get noticed even when you don't want to.
To compound this, Karl is an introvert. It is often thought that introverts don’t like to be around people and just want to be left alone. This isn’t true, not for Karl anyway. He has a social battery, and when that battery gets low he needs to retreat and recharge it. This recharging space is the root of where his art originates. He like to explores themes of stillness, solitude,
isolation and the road less traveled. It is in these themes where he feels most like himself and that he is where he is supposed to be. In sharing his work, his hope is that it will allow you to stop, daydream and escape for a moment.
Karl was selected to attend Chateau d’Orquevaux Artists & Writers Residency in France in 2024. He has also been awarded The Denis Diderot Grant, is a recipient of the The Emerging Artist Grant, and is FAA UAS Part 107 Certified.
