2016 Guest Artist—Doreen St. John
Doreen St. John is one of Ohio’s finest plein air artists. Her paintings demonstrate her love of the natural environment. “I’m inspired by the way light and color influence what we see and feel. My work is really about relationships. . . the relationship between shapes, light and shadow, and between the viewer and the artist, scene, or subject.” St. John has given workshops and exhibited her work nationally in juried outdoor art shows. She has been represented in galleries in Canton, Akron and Columbus and has won numerous awards including “Best of Show” for her watercolor paintings. After her retirement in 2010, St. John has devoted more time to her art, concentrating on works in oil and pastels. She frequently travels to the west coast and other national and international locations seeking inspiration for her studio and plein air works. St. John is a Signature Member of the Akron Society of Artists, a member and current Secretary & Trustee of the Ohio Plein Air Society, a member of Plein Air Washington Artists and an Associate Member of several other national art organizations. She is represented by Turner Studio & Gallery in Columbus, Ohio and Cyrus Custom Framing & Gallery in Canton, Ohio.
